A tale of the first ever encounter between man and the Xenomorph in space, via novel format. A very good book, it is written by a John Shirley who won a Bram Stoker award for his story "Black Butterflies", and is about a group of astronauts who find an alien ship in space, and accidentally become infected by the xenomorphic creatures of the movies, one of which is a queen.

I like it, and I haven't been able to put it down, except to use the internet. :o

Looks good, but seems rather a tad short at 250 pages. If Sacred Cut doesn't measure up I will look for it on Friday. Otherwise - next time I am in the bookshop mood./need

I looked it up and ended up spending a wee while looking at fantastic art work book covers.

I used to be a big fan of 2000 A.D. I bought the first ever copy and stuck with it for nearly 20 years. My mum used to read it too.
I havent bought it for ages and I sometimes see it in the newsagent and think about buying it.
The art work on the Dark Horse website range of books reminded me of 2000 A.D.

I also used to love Forbidden Planet - spent a lot of pocket money and hard earned in there :D

Been venturing into those kind of shops a lot recently in my so far fruitless attempt to get a Jeeper Creeper figurine.

It is a short book, although the writing is small so there is alot more in there than it seems. I just finished the book, and I thought it was pretty good, enjoyed it to the end and they had some more information about the Aliens in there. I am about to start reading another Aliens book my brother bought for me, Aliens: Original Sin. It is set immediately after Resurrection (not my most favourite Alien film, I have to say) and is apparently supposed to tell us why the Nostromo stopped at LV-426 in the first place, in Alien.

Jeeper Creeper was one of the best new horror icons :) I loved that film, and was quite pleasantly surprised by the improved sequel, which is a rarity for movies these days. Knowing me, I would pick one up too, had I seen it. :) :) I always forget to check on the Dark Horse website. There are so many Aliens and other books out there, and so much that I would read. I have a bigger book collection than I do a DVD collection, but that's because I prefer reading to watching TV. I am hoping to write my own novel one day (well, get one of my stories published anyway).

I looked there a wee while ago and couldn't find one. Maybe it is time to try again.

Oh the TV - my favourite place for the following;

Two ALIENS, three PREDATOR elders, an ED 209 (protecting it), six Zoids above it, Anakin Skywalker, Qui Gon Jinn, Obi Wan, Clone Trooper, Jango Fett and Optimus Prime. :o :o

I do love looking at them while watching Battlestar Galactica. LOL :D :D

If the telly is shit (as it usually is) then having all those things round about it kind of distract me and let my mind wander!

I had a similar set up back in UK and a friends sister who was doing a psychology course saw it and analysed me ... :rofl: :wave:

Mainly centered around not being able to grow up! She didn't tell me anything I didn't know.

I have given up on Sacred Cut. Going to go get/try some of those Alien books.

I hope you enjoy them like I did. :)

I haven't really grown up, but I don't mind. I like being young at heart. :)

I just bought Slummy Mummy by Fiona Neill.

I can't believe I bought a book with a cover like this:

Image

Originally Slummy Mummy was a column in the Times and I enjoyed it - it was good fun, so I thought I'd get a copy now its a book

I think I'm going to have to remove the cover. :(

It's coming yet for a' that, that Man to Man, the world o'er, shall brothers be for a' that. (Robert Burns)

It's written from a first person perspective, the first person being an old man (80 year old). It starts with him lying almost immobile (and waiting to die) and he is writing the story of what has happened.

Not sure how the cover picture is going to come into it (if at all) because he has been trapped on a mountain since it all began and the nearest town is totally underwater.

It is quite good so far. I am only about 45 pages in, the scene is well set and things are getting creepy.

Great book, very surprising to me as well. I loved it, and read the sequel book;

Another great book, and the second of the series. I believe there are more and have yet to read them, but Kelley Armstrong is a great writer.
