This thread is for discussing the Amazon series, The Grand Tour. The first ever episode was launched yesterday. crumbs will be watching it at some point over the weekend.

Post your reviews of it here and how it compares to the original BBC Top Gear series, and the more recent (shite) Top Gear.

I will never be owned.

I preferred the pre-2000 Top Gear which was actually a motoring programme. The Clarkson show was a 'lads' entertainment show which featured cars. Never too keen on it, reviews of supercars, the scripted adventures and some silly stuff. Though I somehow kept on watching the thing, skipping through the boring bits.

The Grand Tour seems to get fairly good reviews, though the reviewers may be gauging on the expectations of the old audience.

Will no doubt watch it this evening and report back. :):

I started watching it this morning, but the first 20 minutes was just self-congratulatory waffle.

I will persevere later.

So I can't mention that masonic Zionism fomented and funded WW1 then? :dog: :dog: :dog:

There was mention of an unexplored bomb, but not sure which type.

The show delivers, far more than the Evans version, but that was a given. The budget looks infinite though, but is spent equally though on the camera work, the vehicles , the arena and the track, leaving the three presenters to dress faux casually and banter. Which is really all is required for a hit.

They also break things, people die and they take the piss out of the V8 American Dream, and language which is a mainstay.

Nice touch with May getting nicked.

Mostly similar to the old series, so I reckon lots will like it. I got a bit bored towards the end. Though will probably keep watching it - when I remember it is on.

At least they didn't spend half the show building their own friggin ambulances, or similar nonsense. :)

I finally got to watch the first episode. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The presenters didn't seem relaxed. There wasn't much polically incorrect banter. The comedic element was in short supply.

Overall, there just seemed to be a bit of a disconnect with the audience and viewers.

As for cars. Just three hyper cars being driven around a track. Not very interesting.

I hope it gets better.

I will never be owned.

Ironically I think they were more 'laddish' and politically-incorrect on the BBC! I liked the creative stuff they used to do. I'm really not interested in hyper-cars at all. The driving round the track just seemed to go on an on, with very little variation.

I will never be owned.

Second episode a lot better!

It started off a bit shite with some awkwardness and another hyper-car being driven on a track. I thought the whole episode was going to be a let-down again. However, the show returned to its former glory with a funny-as-fuck adventure.

I will never be owned.

Series 1 - Episode 3. The most boring episode to date. Tried to watch it last night but fell asleep halfway through!

Three blokes drive supercars in Italy.

Utter shite.

I might revisit getting all of the original series. I still watch those episodes on Dave every now and then and they are brilliant.

I think I started a thread on here about getting the old series and it worked out to about £200.

I have heard about TOR before but have never used it. Does it work ok? What are the 'downsides'?

It's very slow. Or at least it was last time I used it.
