Is Neil Armstrong a recluse?

Just on the :zbcnews: they were telling about a series of NASA documentaries theyv'e commision to mark the 40th anniversary of the landings. Buzz Aldrin is in the UK helping to promote and no doubt starring in the documentaries. It jsut struck me that everytime it's Buzz Aldrin and I cannot recall ever seeing an interview with Neil Armstrong. I know he's not dead.

And how utterly amazing to be the first ever person on the Moon. Even the first person to set foot on Mars won't be able to match it. Neil Armstrong was the first ever to set foot on non-Earth ground!!

Armstrong is a very clever but very quiet man, he never liked the publicity and has even refused requests for autographs and requests from politicians for official backing. The job he did During the Gemini 8 saved the space program as a lesser man would have lost control.
Buzz Aldrin is an egomaniac so the two could not be further apart, Buzz would never turn down publicity and has opnned thousands of supermarkets in his time.
Buzz tried so hard to be the first to walk on the moon, he spoke to eveyone he could including the big man upstairs to be the first out but Neil only wanted to be first if it was the right thing for the mission, a total professional with no ego to get in the way.

Or to a lesser extent: "Stoke me a clipper..."

He was a quiet hero, very well respected within the ranks, so the right man for the job
