Holidaying on your own?

Apparently Holidaying on your lonesome is on the rise.

Anyone done it? Anyone fancy it. I haven't although I have been abroad a lot while working and had to socialise on my own. I found it quite liberating and exciting to be honest.

I was considering it, before I met OH (we go on hols together now of course) - but I love to read, I love to sunbathe, and I love quiet & solitude - so it really appeals to me.

Be yourself - everyone else is already taken.

I said How on earth do you keep those cats with you? she said they just dont go far! It amazed me cos cats are so fucking nosey! :stomp: Thats what gets them in trouble in the first place. naughty buggers :breaking:

I went backpacking on my own for two years so I suppose that counts. The first year I was with my friend the second I done it alone. I went to Australia, America (south and north) Asia, India and Europe all on my own.

It is different than a two week holiday though as you stay in hostels and meet tons of other travellers so you are never really alone.

In saying and doing all that I actually don't think I could go for a two week pakage holiday on my own. I would be bored out my nut.

I go up to the caravan at weekends with OH & kids but even if I was on my own i'd go on my own. At one time years ago i'd never go on holiday alone but now I actually like my peace and quiet and my own space

I went skiing once on my own as there was a special deal on chalets in Val D'Isere.

The booking agent was phoning every day to see if i was going to being another as they were desperate to fill the room with another but had cocked up on terms and conditions over single person loadings.

Great week of snow, duty free whiskey and sore knees.

The best facial is a daily facial.

I've never really had a holiday, unless visiting a family friend 12 years ago down south counts as one  .

I was supposed to have had a family holiday abroad in 2002, but my parents booked it right in the middle of my GSCE exams so obviously we couldn't go :( and since then we've never really had the money or time for any sort of holiday since. My mam is a huge worrier so doesn't really like going far from home.

If I had the chance to go on holiday on my own, I'd go for it, cos I prefer being on my own anyway. No idea where I'd go though :thumb:
