Edinburgh Zoo

Cheap admission at Edinburgh Zoo today, so I snapped up the chance to do a spot of photography, although I don't like the idea of animals in captivity..

Now I have a bit of webspace, I'll try to get a few more albums up on here, as I have a massive backlog of pics I'd like to share.

Also need to find out if it is possible to link these pics to the full size images, or if I'd need to provide the links under each pic for those who want to see them in their full glory?

Awww I know what you mean about animals in zoo's etc but sometimes and perhaps the future, the way things are going its the only place we will have the beautiful pleasure of seeing these magnificent creatures.


The pics are gorgeous.......Is that the African hunting dog pic? fabulous although all of them are beautiful......

Aww just looking at the beautiful markings on the wild dog.....look at the flank facing you, it looks like a face of a leopard.........beautiful markings......

Did you look at the markings on the bag leg/flank......you can see a leopardy looking marking.....beautiful.....

Although it is the worst pic out of the bunch from a photographer's standpoint, I thought I'd include it anyway, since it's quite an interesting species.

Aww I really dont know how you *mark something out on a piccie* that but you can definatly see a resemblance to a leopard or great cat or something.......look at the pic facing you and the left flank of the top leg...........

Indeed, there is definitely a resemblance in its camouflage. I think foxes sit somewhere between dogs and cats too. I'm sure somewhere along the line some interbreeding has taken place, that's surely how new species start, although I'm no biologist.

Wots, I wasn't out to correct anyone but I guess it's good to learn something new.. I wouldn't have known what they were either, if it weren't for the zoo map that was handed out.

Yep, Wotty's right, Rich, the zoo is getting a couple of Pandas later in the year so you'll have to get along there and get a few more piccies
