Bay City Rollers

just got a BBC4 documentary on about them. Absolutely nothing about their manager Tam Paton's penchant for underage boys.

Anyone ever into the rollers? All the girls at my school were. All the boys hated them, apart from the school wets

Their 'glory years' were slightly before my time and they havent really left anything that set my tastes aflame.

My friends uncles are Derek and Alan. Both nice enough folk although not seen them in tears. The mania was before my time but I was brought up in Edinburgh so couldn't really avoid them.

Dirty bastard, wasn't it quite awhile before he was found out? I'm sure one of the band members had been done for something. :hmmm:

Indeed. And the bloke in the Rubettes that did the falsetto "Ooooh aaahhhhh dooobeeedooooaaaahhh" shit, we saw as a 'turn' in a club in Cornwall back in the early 90's. To be fair, he ripped the piss out of himself but proved also that he really did have a fantastic set of pipes on him.

Still not nearly as good as our Noddy though. :thumb:

Only years later heard about him. Also it was Derek who was found out to either have port or child abuse or something. I remember it must've been September 1998 cos I was heavily pregnant with my eldest and my mates mum, his sister, had been phoning to find out how I was etc but it all stopped when Derek was headline news. She did get back in touch again but it was few and far between. As far s j know he's still a cardiac nurse at the infirmary n Edinburgh.

Alan doesn't keep well, I was invited to his wedding again that year, 1998 but couldn't make it, he lives in Stirling but think he's doong better now, sure it was a stroke or two he had.
