Fairytale of New York was the big hit but is a hugely successful musician with the Pogues and Dubliners as well as writing loads of stuff for other artists. I wish the man well as he has always come across as a very charming and funny man, albeit with his troubles.

He's damaged (been drinking since he was a child) but an epic songwriter ... I had all The Pogues 80's albums on tape.

Fairytale of New York with Kirsty McColl is one of my least favourite of his songs. Loved The Sick Bed Of Cuchalainn :thumb:

Seen the Pogues, but for raw energy I thought the Popes were a better band. A fair number Of the musicians he has worked with have died over the last few years, I'm fairly sure he's indestructible.
