A new low in Labour's donations history
Article Posted:  Sun Sep 07, 2008
Greg Clark has condemned the Labour Party after it was forced to pay back a £15,000 donation from the children's charity Catz Club.

Charities are prohibited by law from giving money to political parties, and Labour were forced to repay the money after an investigation by the Charity Commission.

Catz Club runs after-school clubs that have received charitable funding from the national lottery and have been endorsed by Government Ministers, including Ed Miliband.

Greg, the Shadow Charities Minister, said, "It beggars belief that Labour should accept money from a lottery funded charity that surely needs all the money it can get to fund its clubs for disadvantaged schoolchildren."

And he stressed, "After the cash for honours investigation, Peter Hain's resignation and the David Abrahams scandal, taking money from children's charities strikes a new low in Labour's donations history." ....

Brown "in denial"
George Osborne has accused Mr. Brown of being "in denial" about both the economic crisis facing Britain and the internal challenges to his leadership.

The Shadow Chancellor contrasted Brown's optimistic view of the economy with Darling's comments that the economic problems will be more profound and longer lasting than people expected.

And he stressed that, "At a time when Britain needs strong and united leadership with a clear sense of direction, we have a Labour Government descending into civil war and a Chancellor and a Prime Minister who publicly disagree on the severity of the problems we face." ....

Labour spin continues

The 2007/08 bill for Government advertising, marketing and publicity was £391 million, an increase of 16% from the year before.

Greg Clark MP, Shadow Minister for the Cabi ....
